Scenario 3: The entrusted Back
Ozma decides to set up a training exercise with the group (a good excuse to learn the tag system), but Alto has some issues with being paired with Sousuke…
Alto |
Commander, why would you pair a ground-type Arm Slave with a VF-25? This combination isn’t efficient at all! |
Mao |
That’s a good point. I’ll let Luca handle this one. |
Luca |
It’s true that the aerial VF-25 can’t show its true potential on the ground… |
Hibiki |
(I see, fighting on terrain your robot isn’t adapted to can be dangerous…) |
Luca |
..but Alto-senpai, you could transform your Valkyrie into Battloid mode to increase its efficiency on land! |
Ouch!
Alto |
That’s not the point! It’s just not right! |
Ozma |
Good point Alto. But any good pilot should be able to adapt to the situation. |
Admit it Ozma…maybe you’re just not very good at SRW?
Alto |
Damn it! |
Sousuke |
Uruz 7, acknowledged. |
Klan |
Poor Alto…looks like he can’t get along with this Uruz 7 guy at all… |
Michel |
It’s his problem. I can’t imagine why he’d be so frustrated with that Sousuke guy. |
Michel |
(He’s pretty inflexible once he’s made up his mind, as usual.) |
SR Point – Use a Maximum Break.
These target dummies are super weak so just steamroll em with your teams.
Basically to use Maximum Break, you need Maximum Tag Tension for a tag unit. To get a level you need 2 kills for that team, or a level up. In Klan’s/Michel’s case, they already got maximum level by killing the tag AND levelling up in single attack.
End of Turn 1, 8 kills so far, would’ve been 9 but damn Alto missed!
The dummies move in, but don’t attack.
Alto |
…I can’t believe I gotta team up with this guy. |
Sousuke |
If you talk about useless things during combat, you’ll die. |
Alto |
We’re not going to die in a freakin’ training exercise! |
Sousuke |
Someone who doesn’t do their best in training, isn’t giving their all on the battlefield. |
Alto |
So it’s like that, huh?! Well then. I’ll show you everything I’ve got! |
No, that’s not Alto frying Sousuke in a giant fireball.
Kurz |
Control Genion properly, Hibiki! Moving erraticaly is just getting in the way! |
Hibiki |
But…! |
Kurz |
(Just yelling at him isn’t doing much. This guy needs someone directing him during battle…) |
At full Tag Tension you can also do a Tag Command. You get 4 options, which give you a bonus if you defeat an enemy on your next attack. These are, Multi-action (extra turn), bonus PP, extra Z chips, or recharge SP.
Using the Extra turn command, Alto and Sousuke zoom around nabbing the last 4 enemies.
Ozma |
How’s that Alto? Wasn’t too hard? |
Alto |
…. |
Ozma |
We’re soldiers Alto. The more you fight together with your allies, the more you’ll come to appreciate them. |
Ozma |
It never hurts to have someone watching your back. |
Alto |
… |
Sousuke |
… |
Shoutarou |
Commander Ozma, can you hear me? |
Ozma |
Shoutarou? What is it? |
Shoutarou |
There are enemy units inbound on you location right now! I think they might be related to the guys who attacked Neo Tokyo 2! |
Ozma |
What, they’re coming all the way out here?! |
Luca |
Watch out, enemies incoming! |
So some real bad guys show up now? |
Mao |
Dammit, they caught us out of formation! |
Sousuke |
I’ll crush you! |
Alto |
I got your back! |
Sousuke and Alto spring into action, using the SRW power of friendship to take out one of the teams automatically. |
Michel |
Hey, not bad, you two. |
Mao |
Given the combination of the aces of the SRT & S.M.S. , this is the natural outcome. |
Ozma |
Alto & Sousuke are both well trained soldiers. If that’s the case they have to keep their trifling feelings in check to move their bodies the exact way they want. |
Ozma |
You guys should understand that you’re more similar than you’d like to admit!
Alto |
Heh, that was kind of a reflex action. |
Sousuke |
Same here. |
Alto |
It’s a real fight from now on. I’m counting on you Sousuke! |
Sousuke |
Urzu 7, acknowledged. |
These guys take slightly more effort to kill. |
From here it’s just cleanup. |
Alto |
Even if you don’t say it, I know what you’re thinking. |
Sousuke |
Really… |
Alto |
Let’s go Sousuke! We’re taking them down! |
As I’ve found out, Tag Command is pretty spammable, as long as you can time a level up with a killing a tag unit, you can chain several Mult-Actions together. Alto and Sousuke go on a rampage, taking out 6 guys by themselves. |
Would’ve finished it on this turn, but noooo, another fucking miss on the map ending attack (80%+ no less)!
Monica |
All enemy forces have been destroyed! |
Ramu |
Pretty strange for them to attack here after the city though… |
Mina |
Maybe they’re just not that organized? |
Jeffrey |
But it’s too suspicious that they are doing this with such a small force. |
Cathy |
A reconnaissance mission maybe? |
Jeffrey |
If that’s case, it’s only a matter of time before we’ll be attacked for real. |
Not Gauron |
Battle analysis now completed…You guys are going to be troublesome. |
Not Gauron |
But it looks like I won’t need an army to fight you head on…just some good timing. |
Alto |
Hey Sousuke. |
Sousuke |
… |
Alto |
About before…sorry about that misunderstanding. |
Alto |
I was a bit unfriendly, but it looks like you’re someone I can count on. |
Sousuke |
It’s all good…But I got a question I want to ask you. |
Alto |
Yeah? |
Sousuke |
What are you…a guy or a girl? |
Alto |
Motherfucker! |
Hibiki |
… |
Ozma |
You okay Hibiki? Worn out after training? |
Hibiki |
…Ain’t complaining. |
Mao |
(Hmmm…the kid’s stronger than he looks) |
Ozma |
You have guts, I’ll give you that. |
Ozma |
From here on out, I’ll teach you one-on-one regarding how to fight. Cry and scream all you want. |
Hibiki |
Just what I was wishing for. |
Mao |
We’re done for today. You outta get back to Neo Tokyo 2, maybe hang out with Sousuke or something. |
Hibiki |
Nah…I might go hit up the simulator. |
Mao |
…Aren’t you taking this a bit too seriously now? |
Ozma |
Heh, that kid ain’t too bad a pilot. |
Mao |
Hmm, really? |
Ozma |
I’ll coach him. Just watch me. |
Mao |
All right, Major…I guess that could work for now. |
Ozma |
I got this. |
Mao |
But it’s troubling is how the enemy is deployed. There are still too many unknown variables. |
Mao |
At this rate we continue having to double-take, it might lead to an irreversible situation. |
Ozma |
I’ll keep that in mind. |
Back at the safehouse, Mao, Kurz and Sousuke are listening in on Kaname’s phone calls. She mentions to Kyoko that while Sousuke is kinda weird, at the same time he’s ‘interesting’. Sousuke is rather surprised at how different Kaname is at home than at school and is rather relieved that she doesn’t hate him.
Hibiki |
…. |
Kaname |
H-hey! Are you even listening, Kamishiro-kun?! |
Hibiki |
Y-yeah… |
Kaname |
My god, up until now I couldn’t use the phone, now I can’t even do as I please at night? |
Hibiki |
It’s not like there’s even anything I can do! |
Kaname |
Anyway! You have to keep your eye on Sagara-kun! |
Hibiki |
You can tell him that directly. He also wanted to know your cell phone number. |
Kaname |
Eh…really? I see… |
Kaname |
Sorry for keeping you up so late. I’ll see you at school tomorrow. |
… |
* Kaname hangs up * |
Hibiki |
…See you… |
Hibiki |
Well then… |

Is there anyone here who was caught in the New Century Dimensional Quake last year and survived? |
Despite taking so long, I actually had a lot of fun trying to read and understand all the dialogue for this stage. Credits go to all the guys working on the translation project for their help 🙂
whoa, good translation dude, i just found this website & you have one the best walkthroughs out there .
It’s kinda funny that the “troll” actually seems to be right (due to the whole Black History thing). The actual Black Charisma from Z1 (AKA The Edel Bernal) behaved like a troll, so yeah. xd
@ZeroMiles
Perhaps they are… ONE AND THE SAME?!
i’m kinda finding it funny that hibiki’s occult forum handle and what the sensei calls him is knight, considering i always rename crowe as “Allen Knight” whenever I play z2.1 and z2.2…
anyway, nice work with the conversations. really puts the story into perspective, although the mention of neo zeon really puts me on edge (still can’t get around the fact that char switched over to the dark side in this continuity)
alright, screw what i said earlier about char. Just… Screw it. Now it makes me THREE TIMES as envious that you get to play this, good sir, especially with char in it. (just read some spoilers hurhur)
@3rdreconmedic
I’ve still yet to finish the game, but in terms of animations, Banpresto have really sandbagged hard.
