This kit was kindly provided by HobbyCo was one my 22nd build for 2022. I actually finished painting and assembled the kit on New Years Eve.
I still haven’t caught up on Witch from Mercury, but all the kits coming out from the show seem really interesting so far! My last encounter with Bandai’s Figurerise line was the Diver Nami about 4 years ago now, and I have to say leaps and bounds have been made in terms of quality. Unlike the typical musume where you’d expect seams on the thighs and shoulders, the only real seams are on the shorts.
Anyway, I get the impression that she is a tsundere-type character but I’m probably totally mistaken. Since I haven’t seen the show, some of these poses may seem out of character, but the articulation on this thing is much better than you’d think and is capable of some pretty cool pin-up type poses. Also, she has stockings and they give you feet option parts, what were you expecting really?
Painting
Until I actually saw some of the screenshots of Miorine from the anime, I did not realize how fair her skin is actually supposed to be. Since I shaded over her face (a bit too much I might add), mine ended up with a slightly sunburnt look 🙁 It also looks like her uniform should be a bit bluer.
Light Greenish Blue – Mr Color 302 Green FS 34092 + Mr Color 115 RLM Light Blue. White added for highlights
Red – Mr Color Russet
Black – Mr Color GX Ueno Black
Hair – White primer, Mr Color GX Cool White (95%) + Azure Blue (5%) to shade in shadowy areas, then Cool White + tiny drop of Azure Blue for highlight
Skin tone – White primer, Mr Color Lascivus Clear Pale Red (50%) + Mr Color Lascivus Clear Pale Orange (50%)
Stockings – Mr Color Lascivus Peach, followed by preshade of black around the shadowy areas. I then used a mix of Mr Color Propeller Color / Hull Red / little bit of GX Ueno Black to blend in, painting less where the stockings “stretch”
