Today’s WIP post is gonna be a short one, more of a info dump so I don’t forget what happened during this session.
So starting off with the dark “red” parts on the MS itself. I wanted something very dark and chocolatey like my Amazing Red Warrior. I started off with a base coat of Hull Red, and for the first attempt at highlights, I added White and a bit of Yellow. This didn’t really turn out that well, adding white made the pieces look purplish, so I ended up dunking a whole bunch of Russet into the highlight mixture and using that (left side). So I guess this means this kind of red is the highlight colour for brown/dark red then!
Next are the reddish parts on the Divine Striker / Claw arm. I decided to go bit lighter on this one, something more like the colour of the plastic the kit comes in. First I tried a base coat of Wine Red + bit of blue, but the Wine Red was really overpowering and so I threw in a whole bunch of Russet into the mixture. I then added white + bit of yellow for highlights, and then went back and hit it with the original mix + some Hull Red for a bit of a postshade.
I’m still pretty worried that the colours aren’t going to turn out exactly like I hoped at this stage. The differences in lighting in these WIP pics is really doing my head in, but I’m going to believe in myself and hope that they will be okay once I put it in the photo booth.
