This was a commission build for a client who requested the Stormbringer in the GM Dominance Phillip Hughes colours.
Despite being one of my favourite designs on all time, this kit broke me, and it could not have come at a worse time with COVID-19 and all. There are two particularly weird seams to fix, being on the ankle guard and on the thrusters on the side of the leg, and also some tricky nubs on the gauntlets that go on the arms. I managed to fix the ankle thanks to some advice from Goodguydan, however I kinda messed up on the other two I mentioned due to oversanding and ended up using some parts from another kit I had lying around.
Having finally built the kit, it doesn’t feel quite as sturdy as I’d hoped for. The ankles in particular have a limited movement and stop the feet from being fully planted if you spread them out too much.
But overall, I’m somewhat glad I’ll get to build this kit again as a personal project as the next time I’ll know exactly what to expect.

Painting
The client also wanted custom decals, I ended up going with Custom Hobby Decals for the job and was pretty surprised at the quality of the printed decals. They were even pre-cut, something which I didn’t expect.
White – Mr Color Grey FS (???) base coat, Mr Color GX Cool White is used for shading/highlight effect
Black – Gaianotes Neutral Grey V base coat, followed by Gaianotes Neutral Grey IV for highlights
Yellow – Base coat Mr Color Orange (100%), followed by starter white technique, then Mr Color GX Yellow (30%) + Mr Color Orange Yellow (70%) mist coat. White and yellow added for further hightlights.
Red – Mr Color Shine Red base coat, added yellow and white for highlights
Elbows / Knees internal joints / hands – Gaianotes EX Black base coat, followed by light mist of SMS Stainless Steel
Other internals – Gaianotes Starbright Iron + bit of EX Black
