This post has been updated on 7th January 2020 to reflect my most recent visit to Malaysia.
There’s nothing quite like buying Gunpla on holiday! During my visit to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for Chinese New Year, I decided to spoil myself a bit and try to hoard as many P-Bandai kits as I could. This post is a chronicle of my shopping adventure.
This is by no means a complete list of hobby shops, only the ones that caught my interest or I managed to visit. But if you want to visit a location with the highest concentration of hobby shops, I recommend visiting Bukit Bintang, where you’ll find Times Square, Sungei Wang and Loywat Plaza in close vicinity of each other.
Times Square
Gamers Arena
Lot 07-54, 7th Floor, Berjaya Times Square, No.1, Jalan Imbi, (3,960.26 mi)
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 55100
Gamers Arena is a chain of hobby stores in KL. They have outlets in Times Square, Sunway Velocity, One Utama and Sungei Wang. This Times Square store is the largest branch and has the most stock out of all the stores.
From what I saw prices are slightly higher than IT Toys for standard releases. Gamers Arena do carry quite some P-Bandai kits, typically priced at around 300-400RM each for an MG.
IT Toys
Unfortunately as of January 1, 2020, Berjaya Times Square have closed the entire IT Centre so this shop is no longer there
Lot T20-21, 2nd Floor, IT Centre, Berjaya Times Square.
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
This was the store that impressed me the most while I was in Malaysia. The shop is quite big and I got shades of Yodobashi while walking around their extremely well stocked shelves as the pictures below should show.
I found that they had slightly cheaper prices than other stores (5-10 RM) for regular kits. On the downside, their P-Bandai selection is pretty small.
Sungei Wang
Gamers Arena
Level 2, Sungei Wang Plaza, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Bukit Bintang, 55100 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
There’s another smaller Gamers Arena outlet just down the road in the Sungei Wang mall. As with the Times Square shop, they carry P-Bandai kits.

Toyzable
KS-1A, 2nd Floor, Sungei Wang Plaza, Bukit Bintang,
55100 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Another store in Sungei Wang carrying anime goods and some Gunpla.
Litt Tak Hobby
As of January 1, 2020 Lit Tak have relocated so this store is no longer there
Lot TC 010-011, 3rd Floor, Sungei Wang Plaza,
Jalan Bukit Bintang, 55100 KL
Litt Tak are the official distributors for Gunpla in Malaysia. Their outlet in Sungei Wang is on the 3rd floor. As far I could see though, they only carry standard releases, and their prices aren’t as good as the other stores I mentioned. Sometimes you’ll see a random kit that’s heavily discounted though.
Lowyat Plaza
Fantasy Toys
Level 2 Lowyat Plaza 7, Jalan Bintang, Bukit Bintang,
55100 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Located in Low Yat plaza (between Times Square and Sungei Wang), this small shops sells collectibles and has a small section of Gunpla. You can find mostly older kits here, but there are sometimes really good prices. When I was there in early 2020, there was a MG Gundam (Origin ver.), MG Build Strike, and MG Duel Gundam for about 150 RM each.
Sunway Velocity
Gamers Arena
Lot # 3-13, 3rd floor, Sunway Velocity Mall, Jalan Cheras, 55100 Kuala Lumpur
Yet another Gamers Arena?! I keep ending up near this chain of hobby shops. Yes they have yet another store in Sunway Velocity mall, this one is the smallest of the three I went to and have similar stock. I did manage to find an RG Banshee Final Battle here though, the only place I saw this kit in this entire trip.
Petaling Jaya
Gundam Toy Shop
No 8-3, Jalan PJS 8/4, Mentari Business Centre, Bandar Sunway, 46150 Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia
I wanted to visit this shop while I was dining in Petaling Jaya, but I didn’t manage to get there before closing hours.
Bonus Round
Crux Hobby Store
Crux Enterprise/Electronic Anda, 365-D, Jalan Temenggong (4,096.83 mi)
Kota Bharu 15000
As of Jan 1, 2020, Crux also have a branch open in Petaling Jaya in KL
Whilst not exactly in KL, I stumbled upon this online hobby store while looking for P-Bandai kits. They are based in the rather quiet town of Kota Baru, which I also happened to be in for CNY. These guys are one of the rare Malaysian hobby shops with a working online shopfront. I ordered some PBandai kits and they delivered interstate next-day to KL with only 10RM shipping cost.
I also managed to pay the shop a visit whilst I was in town. They also carry tools and paint, and I also managed to pick up a legendary SPN-120 Godhand for 260RM.
Final Haul
I put that CNY money to good use:
- MG Freedom 2.0
- MG Heavyarms Custom
- MG Altron Gundam
- MG Astray Noir
- MG Jesta Cannon
- MG Tallgeese III
- MG Hazel Custom
- MG GN-X Advanced Deborah
- HG Blue Destiny Unit 2
- RG Exia
- RG Unicorn
- Action Base 4 x 4
- SPN-120 Godhand
Update: Berjaya Times Square Gamer’s Arena were closed and they merged with Sg Wang Gamers Arena, which will be at Jumpa G floor.
