Namco Bandai recently announced that there they would be launching a beta test service for the upcoming Gunpla action game, Gundam Breaker. While no timeframe has been set yet, today they released some details on what you’ll be seeing in the beta test.
Tutorial Mission
The tutorial mission will be set in a jungle environment, basically your goal here is to get used to the controls, defeat the enemy MS and collect parts for customization.
Defence Mission
The next mission takes place on the desktop of a Gunpla builder and is a defence type mission where you have to protect certain goals from being destroyed. The enemies get stronger as the mission goes on and the goal here is to familiarize the player with the Gunpla customization system in order to beat the mission.
PG Gundam Boss Battle
The final beta mission is against the PG Gundam. It will one shot you if it hits you!
Mission Rewards
Customization
In order to beat the more difficult missions, you’ll need to increase your Gunpla’s stats by customizing it with the various parts you’ve acquired.
Not only that but there’s also a painting section where you can change the colour scheme of your Gunpla, and even apply building techniques like weathering onto it.
It seems doing this will build up your “Builder’s Level” which lets you perform more customization techniques as it increases.
Gundam Breaker is due to be released on PS3 and PS Vita in 2013.
I just spent the whole day playing this beta. If you didn’t know it was released today, gives you 5 offline missions plus online vs. I would actually like for you to right a review on it as I am curious about your thoughts on this game! My only problem is the boosting but that is caused by the years on Vs series that I have played.
@Bossjoe
Interesting, I didn’t know it was out so thanks for telling me. I’ll download it tonight and post up my thoughts.
I think the VS series has spoilt us in terms of gameplay though, no Gundam game I’ve ever played comes close to it.
@YJ
I didn’t expect it either. I got on to download Sword Art but there it was on the front page! However I knew the beta would be soon as Famitsu stated the game is being released June 27th.
And I totally agree about the Vs series.
