We’ve finally got some info on collector’s editions for Naughty Dog’s upcoming game, The Last of Us. As with Uncharted 3, it seems that there will be different versions for the United States and Europe/Australia.
The Last of Us Post Pandemic Edition

The Post Pandemic edition seems to be the premium version of the collector’s edition and is available at Gamestop USA.
The Last of Us Post-Pandemic Edition includes:
- 12 inch premium statue by Project Triforce
- Steelbook edition of the game
- The Last of Us – American Dreams #1 Comic (Variant Cover)
- Naughty Dog Sticker sheet
- Exclusive digital content:

The Last of Us Survival Edition

The Survival Edition is the cut-back version of the Post Pandemic Edition. An interesting thing to note is while you don’t get the 12 inch Joel and Ellie statue, you do get a Hardcover Art Book, which is not available in the Post-Pandemic Edition The Survival Pack DLC also isn’t included, although note that the Gamestop page does say you get it anyway if you preorder. Whether this is intentional or not, I’m not sure.
The Last Of Us Joel/Ellie Edition

EB Games Australia have also announced a collector’s edition, dubbed the “Joel Edition”. JB Hifi also have their own “Ellie” Edition. There doesn’t seem to be any difference apart from the exterior packaging, and they seem to mirror the US’ Survival Edition’s inclusions, minus the steelbook. While I haven’t been able to find other online stores which list this yet, I’m fairly certain this will be the collector’s edition for Europe as well.

Verdict
Comparing the US’ Post Pandemic and the Survival Editions, the only main difference is the 12 inch (30 cm) statue, making it the sole cost of the extra $80USD. Project Triforce seem to put out pretty decent stuff though, but it’s hard to say without being able to see a sample version at least.
So far there’s no edition with said statue announced for Europe or Australia yet. I kinda wish ND would stop having different editions for the US and the rest of the world, because I want that steelbook, dammit!
