It’s now day 3 of the beta and I’m level 21. I haven’t been playing all that much, but here are some more notes from my play time.
What’s new in 1.01?
Nothing really, just a bunch of bug fixes which stop the game slowing down then eventually freezing. Plunder was replaced by FFA.
Soooo weapons?
I find the AK47 to be a bit OP right now. The blindfire accuracy is waaaay too high. I have gotten several triple kills just running into a room and blindfiring.
M4 is a more accurate version of the AK, but has low ammo count. I think it’s almost a whole reload less than the AK. Fires faster than stock AK47, but slower than an AK with the rapid fire mod. You can still do the blindfire crap with it, but I find the AK better, even though the stats list the M9 as better.
The Arm Micro is amazing at blindfire. Combine this with an AK47, and you have ALOT of ammo for blindfiring. No need to reload, just switch weapons and keep shooting!
Grenades. You can only carry one grenade now instead of 2 like UC2. Makes it much easier to rush down people since you don’t have to keep counting nades.
Pistol needs a buff! There’s just no real reason to use it at the moment.
Why is blindfire so good now?
Again, the accuracy is sooo good now. I can’t say this enough. In UC2 if you tried chasing down someone with an AK, you would spray until your clip ran out and they still would not be dead. In UC3, you can easily kill 2, even 3 people on one clip.
Why is sniping harder now?
For one, you can’t aim then scope in anymore. Once you aim, you automatically go into zoom mode, and it’s very hard to adjust your aim since the scope moves very slowly. To be a good sniper, you’ll have to make sure your target is in the center of the screen before pressing L1. Since the default pistol isn’t great anymore, the Arm Micro is probably a better choice for those running Dragon Sniper or G-MAL.
What the hell does the Call Out attachment do?
“Call-out” mod for the AK, Dragon Sniper and G-MAL attaches a laser pointer to the rifle. Whenever you hit an enemy, he’ll be flagged and the rest of the team can see them for a few seconds.
What the hell is the point of the first part of the airstrip map? Are you supposed to get on the plane or something?
Actually no. At the moment there is no point in actually boarding the plane. The team with the score lead at the end of that particular segment gets the ‘Drake’s on a Plane’ medal and a small cash bonus ($500 i think). The only advantage of being on the plane at the moment is that it is easier to turtle up in there. The shit thing about that map is the spawn points. You may find the entire opposing team just spawning in the plane, even though you did a good job keeping them out.
What power weapons are there on the airstrip?
There is a M32-Hammer on the catwalks inside the main hangar. T-Bolt sniper rifle on the scaffolding on opposite side of the map where the heroes spawn.
What power weapons are there in the Chateau?
There is a T-Bolt sniper in the corridor on the 2nd story of the Chateau overlooking the initial villian spawn point. There is also an RPG in the courtyard opposite the starting position (next to the end of the wire line). Finally there is a pistole on the 2nd story room in the Chateau which burns down. I also know there is a Hammer somewhere, but I haven’t run into it yet.
So what are the best kickbacks right now?
All of them are pretty good. Really depends on your playstyle. For me, I am an aggressive close combat type person, so usually I tend to die if I run into 2+ guys while trying to blindfire them. Recently I discovered Smoke Bomb is perfect for bailing if it gets too hot. Also, dropping a nade when someone tries to melee you and then smoke bombing is awesome for trolling people.
Creepy Crawler kickback is really good if you have it, despite it’s relatively expensive cost. You control the swarm of spiders and you can pretty much one shot anyone by touching them, even your own teammates.
I haven’t tried the rest apart from RPG, but I can see Militia Man being pretty fun with running around and spraying.
