441 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne CBD
A short while back Coconut House on Elizabeth Street underwent some renovations. Shortly after it reopened, Little Coconut House appeared as well, just 3 doors down! So what’s the difference?
Well according to this little sign they have on all the tables, none actually. Little Coconut House shares the same menu as it’s big brother, and when you sit down and order food at LCH, your food gets shipped over from the original Coconut House. I’d imagine that would get really annoying for the waiters/waitresses.
If you haven’t been to Coconut House before, it’s basically a Malaysian ‘makan’ place that serves typical Malaysian / Singaporean type food. It’s also very good, and very cheap, which is why it’s usually packed to the rafters.
They’ve added some new things to their menu since the renovations. I don’t remember them having the wonton noodles. They’re not as great as Grand BBQ though I find.
The usual chicken rice stuff is still there, albeit with a slight price hike. I also don’t remember seeing any fried rice dishes from before.
And finally, there’s some new pork noodle dishes.
I had the Nasi Lemak again this time. They’ve really upped the presentation compared to the way it used to be as well. Instead of getting chicken pieces in a curry, you get 2 whole drumsticks instead.
