Firstly, the front cover for the collector’s edition is totally different to the standard edition.  It features what looks like a close up of Shepard’s armour with some deep scratches.

My preorder also came with a bonus code for Terminus armour and some extra weapon for the game.  The gum is from the Mass Effect 2 launch that I attended.

The top of the case doesn’t have a cover, so if you like keeping the plastic shrinkwrap on like me, you can easily slide the contents in and out without damaging anything.

The game itself comes inside a tin case, featuring default Shepard on the front, and uh, something on the back.

There’s 2 discs for the game, as well as a Collector’s Edition DVD with bonus featurettes etc.

The rest of the bonus contents comes inside of a cardboard slipcase.  Upon opening the flaps, you are immediately greeted with a Cerberus Network card, which has a code you can use to sign up for the network and get access to some bonus stuff.

You get a comic, ‘Redemption’ by Dark Horse comics.

And finally is the hardcover artbook.  Most of the pages just feature a character each with concept and offical art.  The pages are not glossy like the Bayonetta artbook, but just normal paper.

I thought to close this off I’d include a look at the standard edition of Mass Effect 2 as well.

Which is better?  Only you can decide.
