Where YJ tries to build a Gundam model after a 3 year hiatus
Wing Zero Custom. Not really a fan of the design, and that’s probably why it shall be my first victim in my return to Gunpla. Chicks dig the wings though. Pics after the jump.
For one of Bandai’s later MG’s, there’s several weird design issues. Firstly, the head is split in half into left and right, not back and front. This makes sanding the mohawk bit a pain the the arse.
Secondly, the arms aren’t part of the skeleton with the armour going on top as usual, but the arms go over the elbow part, meaning stupid seam line and painting is a pain in the ass. This also happens with the shoulder armour, so I had to make a few cuts in the skeleton so the shoulder armour piece can be slid on after they have been glued together.
I’ve been working on this for about 4 hours now, and I’ve managed to do a snap fit of the torso as well as cut about 40% of the runners. Man, I can’t believe I had time to do all this shit back in uni. And I haven’t even started sanding yet! At least with test fitting you can kind of amuse yourself in the meantime by seeing how the model looks beforehand.
Other than that, I’ve managed to get the guns and backpack glued, so sanding to come in the next few weeks.
How do you put shadowing or 3D look on your model kits? cause they looks nice.
